Overview

The air conditioning in server rooms runs 24/7 and can make a significant contribution to a school's electricity baseload. Reducing a school's baseload is often the fastest way for a school to reduce its energy costs.

Server rooms require air conditioning to prevent them from overheating. They do not need to feel like a fridge. The DfE Energy Efficiency Guidance states that the temperature should be set no lower than necessary for the installed equipment or room temperature.

Most server rooms need not run any lower than 21°C.
