Be an energy detective

Balby Central Primary Academy, Friday, 26 September 2025
10 Home learning KS1, KS2, KS3

What you did

The Champions of Change went around school at lunchtime and identified electrical appliances that had been left on with nobody in the room.  They then left a note telling them that they had turned it off and why they did.  They then designed a poster to put in the areas that were identified to remind them to turn off their electrical items when unused.

Activity description

Use your powers of detection and observation to spot all the items that use electricity in your house.

Check every room in your house to spot where energy is being used. Use our attached checklist to record what you find.

Hint: if it lights up, makes a noise, or produces heat, it may use electricity.
