Label lights and appliances to show which should be left on or turned off

Barton Hill Academy, Thursday, 16 October 2025
35 points 16 pupils Change-maker KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4, KS5

We put coloured stickers on to the electrical appliances and outlets in the classroom to show whether we are allowed to turn them off or not. Red meant don't turn it off, orange meant that we need to ask permission to see if we can turn it off and green meant that we can turn it off without asking permission.

Activity description

Pupils will identify all IT equipment, appliances and lighting throughout the school and indicate which can be turned off using a traffic light coding system.
