We used the presentation to debate the pros and cons of using fossil fuels. In particular we concentrated on oil and the impact on the environment the various products have. We were surprised how many everyday things we rely on are made from oil. We discussed the importance of recycling and reusing wherever possible.
Activity description
Did you know that burning oil for heating produces 40% more carbon dioxide than gas, for the same amount of energy?
Many schools use oil fuelled boilers, especially in rural areas where the national gas network (the underground pipes) doesn’t reach.
Find out more about where our oil comes from, what we use it for and what impact this all has on our environment around us.
