Switched off lights on sunny days

Chestnut Park Primary School, Wednesday, 23 April 2025
10 points 12 pupils Behaviour change

We started being more energy smart by turning off lights on sunny days! 🌞

We noticed that sometimes classroom lights were still on even when we had lots of lovely sunshine pouring in through the windows. So we decided to take action!

Each class made a special effort to switch off the lights when natural light was bright enough, especially during the middle of the day. Some children were given the job of being our light monitors, helping to remind the class when the lights weren’t needed. This small change helped us save electricity and made us all more aware of how we can help the planet.

We’re now keeping track of how often we remember and looking out for other times we can save energy too. Every little change helps—and we’re proud to be making a difference!
