School's Operations Manager attended a one-day Energy Efficiency Training session put on by the local authority and
Retrofit Action for Tomorrow (RAFT).
The session brought together business and premises managers from local school around the borough to learn about what we can be doing in our schools to improve our energy efficiency on site and hear from other schools where they are in the journey to Net Zero, what they are doing, challenges, etc.
The event led to a number of actions and questions to take back to school for our Premises Manager and insight for continuing to draft our Climate Action Plan such as -
- What system are we using to control the various heating systems in the school? Do we have a BMS, and if not, should we explore getting one.
- We should do an insulation audit on our distribution pipework.
- We should schedule a regular audit on all taps for leaks if we aren't doing that already.
- Are we using all the energy produce by our solar panels?
- Kitchen appliances - are we turning these off overnight and during holidays?
I also made a valuable contact who has offered to review our Climate Action Plan.
