Label lights and appliances to show which should be left on or turned off

Students learnt about the importance of switching of electrical items at the end of the day.They walked around the school and used a traffic light labelling system.Green meaning that they could turn off the item, orange meaning that they could also turn off the item only when clarifying this with a member of staff.Red meaning that they should not turn off this item.They were informed of how much energy the school used last year and how this was too high and how this  impacts the environment.Students were keen to reduce this usage Energy Sparks labeling equipment student booklet.docx  

Activity description

Pupils will identify all IT equipment, appliances and lighting throughout the school and indicate which can be turned off using a traffic light coding system.
