We have been looking at the litres of food waste per week and have calculated it into CO2 emissions. We have 420 litres per week of food waste and it produces 2.5kg of CO2 per litre. So we are producing 1050kg of CO2 per week. So we are making plans to reduce this quickly by getting the children to eat more off their plates.
Now it's time to calculate exactly how your school's waste is affecting the environment. Download our food waste calculator to calculate some useful data about how much your food waste costs your school and the planet. Use the impact data to communicate to the school community the importance of not wasting food. You could run an assembly to share your food waste facts and ideas of how your school could cut food waste in future.
