Follow the sun's energy

Oasis Academy - Enfield, Wednesday, 01 July 2026
10 points 5 pupils Home learning KS1, KS2, KS3

Activity description

When we use fossil fuels we are actually using the sun's energy from millions of years ago.

For this activity, try to spot everywhere that fossil fuels are used around you for one day. You may need to ask an adult where the electricity used in your home, school or shops comes from.

Make a list and discuss it with an adult. Why are the people you spot using fossil fuels? What could the alternative be?

Make sure you record this activity each time one of your pupils completes it at home.
