we reduce the printing at our school, allowing teachers to print just £10
Purpose:
In an effort to promote environmental sustainability and reduce the school's electricity consumption, this policy outlines our commitment to minimizing the use of photocopying across all departments.

Policy Statement:
The school is committed to reducing its reliance on photocopying as part of a broader initiative to conserve energy and support eco-friendly practices. Photocopiers are high-energy devices, and reducing their use will contribute significantly to lowering the school’s overall electricity consumption.

Guidelines:

  1. Digital First: Staff are encouraged to use digital methods of communication and distribution whenever possible (e.g., email, shared drives, online learning platforms).

  2. Print Wisely: Only print or photocopy when absolutely necessary. Evaluate whether the material can be shared electronically or displayed digitally.

  3. Double-Sided Printing: When printing or copying is required, always use double-sided printing to reduce paper and energy use.

  4. Shared Resources: Avoid printing multiple copies of the same material. Instead, share a limited number of copies among small groups or display key documents on notice boards or projectors.

  5. Staff Awareness: All staff should model and encourage sustainable practices in classrooms and among students, including conscious use of school resources.

Monitoring:
Usage of photocopy machines will be periodically reviewed to ensure compliance with this policy and to identify further opportunities for improvement.

Review:
This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to reflect the school’s sustainability goals.
