Create an Energy Mascot for your school

The Ferncumbe C of E Primary School, Monday, 09 February 2026
35 points 190 pupils Communicator KS1, KS2, KS3

We introduced Barry the Eco-Bear in September. Is this allowed? He wasn't created, but we found a masive bear and thought it would be good to have a character.
He lives usually on a big speaker in the hall, watching food waste. He has also toured the school and visited each class for a month at a time, helping to check that lights and screens are off when not in use etc.
He has been a big focus of our Eco-School assemblies each half term.
He was also the star of Science week - he went missing and one of the teachers had stolen him. Forensic activities were carried out by each class to find the culprit who then had to return him.

Activity description

We love Greta the Polar Bear that the children at Ysgol Bro Ingli designed to be their Energy Mascot.

Why not design an Energy Mascot for your school.  You could discuss it in your Energy Team or involve everyone in the whole school in making submissions. Your school Energy Mascot should unite everyone under one name, makes everyone feel included, and connect students to your campaign to make your school more sustainable.
