What savings can I expect to achieve?

Schools using Energy Sparks achieve an average saving of around 8% off their electricity consumption and 13.5% off their gas use. However, our best performing schools have saved up to 40% through improved heating control and by switching off electrical equipment and lights outside of school hours.

Our case studies highlight savings achieved at some of the schools and Multi-Academy Trusts  using Energy Sparks.

What makes Energy Sparks unique?

Why Energy Sparks is better for energy management than supplier portals

Energy Sparks provides a school-specific energy management tool that focuses on education, energy saving, and carbon reduction. It’s designed to help schools understand and reduce energy use while engaging students and staff in developing energy and carbon reduction life skills.

Energy Sparks is designed for pupils, teachers, site managers, and school leadership. It provides analysis of gas and electricity use, energy saving action prompts, benchmarking and energy saving priorities via pupil and staff dashboards and weekly alert emails.

Our analysis incorporates school opening times, term dates and temperature data, providing insights into out-of-hours energy saving opportunities, thermostatic control and building performance.

Energy Sparks includes curriculum-linked resources and student-led investigations, and recommends which you should prioritise based on your school’s energy data. With Energy Sparks, you can empower your pupils to play a meaningful part in fighting climate change by reducing the school’s carbon footprint.

Most Energy Sparks accounts are publicly visible, allowing all interested pupils, staff and other stakeholders to engage with the energy data, recommendations and activities to maximise energy saving impact.

By contrast, supplier Portals are primarily used for billing, contract management, and basic energy usage data. They are focused on account management, not behaviour change or education. They also require a password for access, limiting engagement.
