We analysed the gas used during February 2023 and February 2024 to see if there were any differences after our reduce energy campaign.
Our electricity use did decrease.
See below
The Eco Team would like the site manager and site supervisors to turn it off, on Friday 9th February!
We have been measuring the amount of energy we use within the school and we want to see if we can reduce our carbon footprint over half term by having a big turn off!
We would like to turn all unneeded electrical and gas appliances off over half term.
- Gas and electric room heating off over the week in all rooms not being used.
- Hot water heating - this could be a central heating system, electric immersion heaters in tanks in roofs and cupboards, and point of use electric hot water heaters. To mitigate any Legionella concerns make sure any tanks or pipe runs are flushed and heated to 60°C before pupils return after a long break
- Hot drink boilers
- Water chillers
- Photocopiers and printers
- Computer monitors, ipad and laptop chargers, smart boards, and projectors
- Any IT servers which are not needed during the holidays
- Music technology equipment
- Design technology equipment
- Extraction fans and fume cupboards
- Air purifiers introduced as Covid mitigation
- Air conditioning units
We will measure the effectiveness of doing this and let you know after half term!!!
We are aiming to reduce our electrical use by 5% compared to last year, please help us to do this.
Thank you for your support, The Eco Team
, however the gas usage appears to have increased.
