Plan and run a campaign to switch off lights and use natural light on sunny days

Inkersall Spencer Academy, Wednesday, 07 June 2023
30 Change-maker KS1, KS2, KS3

What you did

Children met to discuss the importance of natural light and rather than using the school lights in the classroom we pull up the window blinds and allow natural light into rooms. Pupils to make sure the classroom blinds are up each morning.
children discussed this was easier now as we have the sunnier months ahead but may struggle when it is bright that sometimes this is a hindrance and they cannot see the board when input of the lesson is being given.

Activity description

Did you know? Making good use of daylight in a classroom can reduce lighting costs by 19%.

In this activity pupils discover how classroom set up can increase natural light levels and explore the optimal levels of light in their classrooms.
