Toilet refurbishment. Hot water was being supplied via Gas fired Calorifiers in basement 50m away. With push button water reducing taps the length of the run meant the heated water took a long time to reach the taps. A lot of cold dead leg had to be drawn off to allow hot to eventually get through. The system also contained Trace heating to the 50m run, a simple electrically heated cable attached to hot water pipe acting to keep water in pipe warm. The heated cable was largely inefective due to numerous areas where the cable had come away from the pipe.
Changed Calorifier containing stored water, eliminated the 50m run and no need for the trace. Installed Point of use next to toilet basins for instant hot water
