Use appliance monitors to understand the energy use of individual appliances

Oasis Academy - Immingham, Tuesday, 27 February 2024

What you did

the eco club and inclusion unit have spoken with the senior leadership team and have ordered electricity monitors, in particular we are focussing on the amount of electric staff additional fridges are costing, this is in order to reduce the baseload and reduce energy costs over the holidays and weekends

Activity description

Appliance monitors let you see the energy that a single appliance is using as well as adding up the energy that the appliance uses over a period of time. You can also use the appliance monitor to see how much it has cost to operate the appliance for a certain amount of time. Appliance monitors can be very useful to identify energy guzzling appliances to help support the case for appliance upgrades. Try adding appliance monitors to fridges, freezers, IT equipment, hot drink boilers, and kettles to compare their energy use.
