What you did

Our school has designed a machine to use food canteen waste and turn it into fertiliser for our school vegetables, we have calculated that schools across the country create 6% of methane contributions to the environment through decomposing waste in landfill. We have also entered a competition with Phillips 66 an oil refinery to demonstrate our design of how we plan to use an accelerated fertiliser machine to reduce our schools methane production and reduce our carbon emissions by reducing food transport costs by growing our own seasonal vegetables

Activity description

Start by doing our activity  Find out exactly how much food your school is wasting

Now it's time to calculate exactly how your school's waste is affecting the environment. Download our food waste calculator to calculate some useful data about how much your food waste costs your school and the planet. Use the impact data to communicate to the school community the importance of not wasting food. You could run an assembly to share your food waste facts and ideas of how your school could cut food waste in future.
