Write a policy on transportation to school

What you did

We looked at the overall school's sustainability policy and ensured that we updated it in regards to transport to school for both staff and pupils. 

Students encouraged by the school's proactive response to sustainability and thought it was useful to look through the sustainability policy in detail and add their thoughts.

Students thought about carbon offsetting for trips abroad. Added this in.

Activity description


The journey to school at the start and end of the school day can be a major cause of global warming emissions and air pollution.  Although your Local Authority is responsible for the provision of sustainable transportation and pedestrian/cycle friendly routes in your community, schools have a big part to play in developing positive attitudes to planet-friendly travel.  Your school can do lots to encourage children, families and staff to ditch the car in favour of buses, bikes, scooters or feet!
