We have done a comprehensive review of our boiler and we have identified why out of hours gas usage is so high. It is due to the controls on the boiler meaning that we have to input the time when we want the building to be up to temperature rather than the time that we want the boiler to come on. This means that the boiler often comes on very early in the morning to ensure that the required temperature is reached by the time school opens in the morning. 

We also have an issue with the placement of the thermostat which is right next to the main entrance. This means that when the doors are opened in the morning for everyone to arrive it immediately lowers the temperature by the thermostat and the boiler then stays on. We are looking into getting the thermostat moved and we would love to investigate a more carbon efficient form of heating but it is not a priority on the budget.
