We ran an assembly about food waste with our student Eco Captains group. We explained changed we are making regarding food waste and food recycling during dinner times. We had a PowerPoint presentation we shared with the students with 2 videos showing what happens to food waste when it is collected from our school and also a video explaining the new bin system we will be using. The Eco Captains have made signs for the bins so students can see the difference between general waste and food waste bins.

Everyone in your school needs to do their bit (or bite!) to tackle food waste. Hold an assembly to share the key facts about food waste and the main messages of what this means for your school.
Think carefully about who you want to hear your message. You might want to invite school governors, parents or dinner staff in or invite them to participate in your assembly.
