Overview

The Department for Education (DfE) Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy states that by 2025, all education settings in England will have nominated a sustainability lead and put in place a climate action plan. The climate action plan is expected to cover the following 4 areas: Decarbonisation and Energy Efficiency; Adaptation and Resilience; Biodiversity and Nature and Climate Education; Green Skills and Careers.

There is a lot of support out there for creating a climate action plan. The Sustainability Support for Education service helps you to identify the next action(s) for your setting and can also link you with people who would give you more support.

For example, Let’s Go Zero’s Climate Action Advisors can meet with your school to decide next steps and help you create your Climate Action Plan.

You may also wish to include an energy action plan as part of your overall plan. We have some guidance on how to use your Energy Sparks account to support this work: Wrote an energy action plan for your school | Energy Sparks
