As part of our work with Sustrans and the Active Travel scheme, we have written a school policy that shows our community and stakeholders what we expect and what we will do to support them.
Activity description
The journey to school at the start and end of the school day can be a major cause of global warming emissions and air pollution. Although your Local Authority is responsible for the provision of sustainable transportation and pedestrian/cycle friendly routes in your community, schools have a big part to play in developing positive attitudes to planet-friendly travel. Your school can do lots to encourage children, families and staff to ditch the car in favour of buses, bikes, scooters or feet!
Why not use our example policy to write your policy on promoting sustainable travel to school.
