Pupils meet with the office staff to discuss their role in saving energy

What you did

In our initiative to engage with the office staff regarding their role in saving energy, we organised a meeting with the help of Sue and Samuel from the office. The meeting involved a group of pupils who were eager to discuss energy usage and conservation. To facilitate the discussion, we utilised a downloadable questionnaire specifically designed for this purpose.

During the meeting, the children and Sue and Samuel from the office gathered together to exchange ideas and insights. The questionnaire served as a valuable tool to guide the conversation and ensure that all relevant topics were covered. The pupils took an active role in leading the discussion and asking the office staff questions related to energy usage in their daily operations.

The questionnaire covered various aspects of energy consumption, including lighting, heating, appliances, and standby power. It aimed to prompt the office staff to reflect on their current practices and identify areas where energy-saving measures could be implemented. The children encouraged Sue and Samuel to provide specific examples and suggestions on reducing energy waste and improving efficiency in their workspace.

Throughout the meeting, the children actively listened to the responses and engaged in meaningful dialogue with Sue and Samuel. They shared their own ideas and experiences on energy conservation, inspiring the office staff to consider new approaches and solutions. Together, they brainstormed practical strategies such as turning off lights when not in use, using natural light whenever possible, adjusting thermostat settings, and utilising energy-efficient appliances and equipment.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to collaborate further on energy-saving initiatives. The children expressed their gratitude to Sue and Samuel for their openness and willingness to explore ways to make the office environment more energy-efficient. They agreed to stay connected and continue working together to implement the identified energy-saving measures.

By completing this meeting and questionnaire, the children and Sue and Samuel took an important step towards fostering a culture of energy awareness and conservation within the office. Their collaboration set the stage for ongoing discussions and future actions to reduce energy consumption and contribute to a more sustainable school environment.
