Watch out - the heating or hot water is running during the current school holidays! Up to Tuesday 7 Apr 2026 the school used 19,000 kWh of gas during this holiday, which has cost £1,100 and generated 3,400 kg CO2. Make sure both your heating and hot water are switched off to prevent further waste.

If you choose to leave your heating and/or hot water running, by the end of the holidays you will have used 27,000 kWh, costing £1,500 and generating 5,000 kg CO2.

Gas use in the Easter 2026 holidays has increased by 280% compared to Easter 2025. 

Between Saturday 28 Mar 2026 and Tuesday 7 Apr 2026 you used 19,000 kWh of gas at a cost of £1,100. Adjusting for changes in outside temperature, this is still an increase of 14,000 kWh and 2,500 kg CO2. Ask the school site manager to check the heating controls to reduce gas use during the school holidays.
