Thermometers are put in each classroom to monitor room temperature

Widcombe Infant School, Monday, 01 March 2021
5 Taking action around the school KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4

What you did

Thermometers are in every classroom. The children take turns to read the temperatures and our aim is to keep the rooms at the optimum of 18 degrees. Discussions take place if the temperatures fall below this temperature so that the children can explore ways to warm the room up. Equally, if the temperature rises above 18 degrees, we discuss what should be do to lower the temperature and whether it is appropriate to lower the heating temperature or whether to open a window.

Activity description

When classrooms are too warm not only can it affect learning but it wastes money and creates unecessary climate warming emissions.

Keep an eye on how warm your classrooms are by completing this quick activity.
