As a school, we normally try to wait until after the October Half term to switch the school heating on. However in support COP26 and the work being done to save valuable energy, we decided as a school to delay switching the heating on for an additional week. Although the weather during half term had been mild, the first week back at school was quite chilly. Coupled with having doors and windows open regularly to support ventilation, this made the school environment quite chilly.
The children and staff responded well though by adding additional layers of clothing and even a coat at times! We proved to ourselves that although it is cosier with the heating on, we could manage a little longer without it!
